Bring to life the art you have always envisioned making

During this 6-week online course you will be walking beside me and witnessing my process, step-by-step, to inspire and equip you to create the botanical art of your dreams.

  • Week 1 - I'll be sharing how to choose a colour palette that resonates with you and create calming backgrounds that will become the foundations for our paintings.

  • Week 2 - We dive into the world of translucent papers, unravelling the secrets of layering techniques that can elevate your art to new heights.

  • Week 3 - We will be printing using real plants. I'll guide you through the steps to create botanical prints and demonstrate how to use them to create a finished painting.

  • Week 4 - We explore a new printmaking technique using nature-inspired collagraph plates. I expertly guide you in transforming ordinary pieces into extraordinary works of art, unlocking the magic of collagraphs.

  • Week 5 - We combine all the lessons into pieces that incorporate Gelli plate and collagraph prints, collage pieces, and hand-drawn elements. I will show you how to add detailed finesse and an artistic flourish to elevate your creations.

  • Week 6 - In the final week I share tips on professional presentation. Learn to mount prints on wooden cradleboards using the right glues and sealing techniques for impeccable finishes.

An eye opener

Katrina Embling

I’ve dabbled with a gel plate for a while but Susan has inspired me to think differently about it’s use and I’m excited to delve in again. Lots of ideas here to take away and adapt to your own style of artwork. Really enjoyed the course. Thank you.
