What You’ll Learn

In this follow-up to Botanical Gel Printing on Fabric (Part 1), you’ll learn how to:

  • Prepare your printed fabric and mount it onto a wooden panel

  • Work with encaustic wax safely in a home setup

  • Embed dried botanicals into the wax surface

  • Build translucent layers and create texture with simple tools

  • Highlight raised areas using PanPastels

  • Finish and present your piece for display or sale


The process

Inside the course:

  • Lesson 1: Adhering Fabric to the Cradleboard - Learn how to mount your printed fabric using gloss gel medium and prepare it for the wax process.

  • Lesson 2: Embedding Botanicals with Encaustic Wax - Apply layers of wax, embed pressed plants, and use a heat gun to fuse the layers. Add depth, softness, and detail.

  • Lesson 3: Refining Wax Techniques on Polycotton Prints Explore how different fabrics react to wax, and apply final highlights using PanPastels and colour washes

  • Do I need to take Part 1 first?

    Yes, this is a follow-up course and only available to students who have purchased Botanical Gelli Printing on Fabric (Part 1). You’ll build on the fabric work created there.

  • Is this course suitable for beginners?

    Absolutely. I guide you gently through each step, with simple explanations and safety tips, no prior experience with encaustic needed.

  • How do I sign up for your course?

    All my courses are hosted on a platform called Thinkific. You have to make an account with a the password in order to pay and to sign up for the course. Don’t forget your password, you will need it every time you want to sign in to the class.

  • Why is the course only available to purchase in USD?

    The teaching platform that I host my courses on only allows for 1 currency option. I decided to opt for USD as my students are worldwide. Use https://www.xe.com/ or another online currency converter to get the price in your currency.

  • How do your online classes work?

    The workshops are e-courses, hosted online, and members get an individual, private account to access all their classes. All e-courses are self-study and self-paced. Paid classes have lifetime access (as per our terms of service, "lifetime" means for as long as our business is up and running). The videos are all pre-recorded, so you can watch them whenever you want, and as many times as you wish. You may keep all content. Some videos are downloadable.

  • When does the course start and finish?

    The course is an instant access class. You will be provided with access to all content immediately and can work through the content at your own pace.

  • Do you offer refunds?

    Yes. If the course isn’t a good fit and you’ve watched less than 20% of the content, just email me within 7 days for a full refund.

  • How long will the class and videos be available? Are the videos downloadable?

    You get lifetime access to the classroom and videos. "Lifetime" technically means for as long as my business is up and running. You can watch the videos within the classroom as many times as you wish and the videos are downloadable. Make sure that your internet connection allows you to smoothly stream high resolution videos online. Refunds will not be made after registration.

  • Does your course offer closed captions or subtitles?

    This course is filmed in English and now includes English subtitles for improved accessibility. A PDF printable transcript is also available.
